Founder and Director, Mimo Gem Trader
Miriam is a trailblazer gemologist in Kenya. She is a young woman from rural Kenya, and her accomplishments in the field are WONDER. After graduating from high school in 1994, her father passed, ending Miriam's desire for higher education. Being the firstborn child, circumstances forced her to seek employment to help her mother care for her siblings. A well-to-do neighbor employed her as a housemaid before she was hired by a gem dealer from the United States as a tea maker/receptionist in Nairobi City. Miriam was fascinated by the trade and was given a chance to familiarize herself with the business by her boss, who quickly noticed her intelligence and curiosity for gemstones.
Miriam saved her meager salary to pay for her gemstone training, attending the famed Oppenheimer Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa. She holds certificates in both Diamond and colored Gemstone Identification and has excelled in processing rough to fully cu and polished gemstones. Consequently, the certificates equipped her with all the required knowledge to be a gemstone dealer, miner, and creative artisan, which she has done successfully for the last 25 years.
Miriam's perseverance in gemstone mining is inspirational. The mining industry is primarily dominated by wealthy international men well-versed in technology. She is a dynamic role model in her field. Miriam inspires a whole new generation of young men and women, including bright female gemologists from humble backgrounds.
Miriam has grown successfully in the business of gemstone dealing and mining and is admired by many; she is a young woman who has beat all odds and survived a male-dominated field in Kenya. Africa. She owns Tsavorites Mines in Taita Taveta & Nosikitok Namanga in Kenya, where she practices modern mining and takes care of over fifty families in the mining industry communities.
Today, Miriam owns Tsavorite mines in Taita Taveta and Nosikitok, Namanga in Kenya where she practices modern mining and at the same time, takes care of over fifty families in the mining business.
